Data Protection, Rights and Access
Course Objectives
This course introduces the issues involved in data protection, rights and access. After completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the concepts of privacy and confidentiality and how they apply to the management of research data.
- Be aware of ethical requirements that apply to the collection and management of data involving human subjects.
- Know what Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) are and how they apply to research data.
- Know how Freedom of Information (FoI) and related legislation affects legitimate access to data.
